My story...
Growing up in Thunder Bay, I have been surrounded by a great ski community. In my younger years, I competed in the sport of Nordic Combined. I enjoyed the thrill of ski jumping, mixed with the great challenges of cross- country skiing. At the age of thirteen, I competed in the World Junior Championships. After the close of Big Thunder, I made the decision to pursue cross-country ski racing. I joined Big Thunder Nordic Ski Club based out of the Kamview Nordic Centre in Thunder Bay. In my first Nationals as a first year juvenile, I brought home two medals in the skate races. The following year, I was the overall National champion in the juvenille category. In my first year as a junior man (2001-2002), I trained with the National Team Development Centre in Thunder Bay. As a junior, I competed in two World Junior Ski Championships, placing 18th and 11th respectively in the Sprint competitions. I was also a member of the National Junior Team in 2002/2003. Throughout my junior career, I have collected over 18 individual National medals, many of which were Gold. There has been a progressive development in my ski career over the past few years.
As a seventh year member of the Senior National Ski Team, I have made the climb to consistent World Cup racing and now hope to bring medals home from these events. I have competed in two World Champioships and the 2006 Olympic Games and now I look for top international results and maintaining a rate of consistent improvement. Now, I am fully committed to my long-term goal of being the fastest sprinter on the World Cup and to medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
